IN SUMMARY
His head held high, dread-locks swaying east to west and vice-versa, body vibrating and right foot stomping, Beenie Man showed he is the best interpreter of dancehall music.
There have been fountains of tales about Beenie Man being controversial – and revellers at his show at Kyadondo Rugby Club on Saturday got a piece of it.
The King of Dancehall stuck a sword of words into gay people through singing and talking.
“In my family, we don’t have any gay person but if you’re gay, my brother that’s not my fault,” he said as he performed his song Mi Nah Wallah, in which he says he would like to cut the throats of all gay men.
George Bush and Bin Laden were also at the receiving end of the Jamaican’s wrath calling on the audience to say “murderer” as he sang about the pair’s warfare.
just called Water Street music hall and voiced my support for Beenie Man.Thanks for the number.Too bad its so far away or I would be there. Looks like the show is a go,wish more venues would stand firm and support freedom of speech. Chant down the haters and informas. Get a life Mitch. Oh and by the way I had ten other friends call and give water street their support as well. keep those venue phone numbers coming.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Anonymous. I think everyone should voice their opinions.
ReplyDeleteIf you approve of Beenie Man's songs urging folks to slit gay people's throats and hang lesbians, by all means call the venue to support Beenie Man. If you don't, by all means, call the venue to tell them what you think.
Personally, I think a little sunshine is exactly what's needed here, so thanks for contributing your voice and opinion.
Just called Water Street and told them how excited I am for this concert. Beenie Man is awesome!
ReplyDeleteMitch you have no idea of reality! Beenie Man uplifts the black community and raises awareness for black issues! You can't condemn someone for being politically incorrect - you may not have to like it but you have to accept it. Grow up and fight against a real issue.
